What this experience feels like
Prenatal massage at ZionZen is soft, cushioned, and protective. Your therapist tucks you into a side-lying position with bolsters and warm linens, then moves slowly through the areas carrying the most weight.
Nothing is rushed. The whole session is built around making you feel safe, warm, and looked after.

Who should wait or check with us first
Prenatal Massage is safe for most guests, but a few situations call for a conversation — with us, or with your provider — before you book:
- High-risk pregnancy, preeclampsia, or placenta concerns — bring written clearance from your provider.
- First trimester with complications, spotting, or cramping.
- Signs of preterm labor, severe swelling, or sudden headaches — call your provider, not us.
- Fever or active illness.
If you're unsure whether massage is right for you today, call us before you book — our therapists would rather help you choose than have you sit through a session that isn't a fit.
What happens during the session
- Positioning
- Side-lying with full bolster support. We never use prenatal cutouts in face-down tables.
- Pressure
- Gentle to medium throughout — always within what feels safe and nurturing.
- Draping
- You're always covered, with extra warmth if you'd like it.
- Pacing
- Unhurried. Plenty of stillness.
Before & after your session
Small choices before and after your session make the work land deeper — here's what our therapists recommend.
Before you arrive
- Bring a snack
- A light snack before and a quick refuel after keeps blood sugar steady — especially in the second and third trimester.
- Hydrate
- Drink a full glass of water in the hour before your session. Well-hydrated tissue responds more quickly and holds the work longer.
- Eat lightly
- Avoid a heavy meal in the two hours beforehand. A small snack is perfect.
- Arrive a few minutes early
- Give yourself 5–10 minutes to settle. We'll offer tea and walk you through anything new.
After your session
- Stand up slowly
- We'll help you sit up in stages. Give yourself an extra minute before standing.
- Sip water through the day
- Bodywork gently mobilises tissue. Steady hydration helps you feel your best the next morning.
- Move gently, not intensely
- A slow walk, a soak, or a stretch is beautiful. Save the hard workout for the day after.
- Notice, don't chase
- Most guests feel the deepest calm 6–12 hours later. Let the session keep unfolding.
