What this experience feels like
A Signature Massage is ZionZen's fully customized session. Rather than committing to a single named style before you arrive, you tell your therapist how your body feels that day and they build the hour around it — blending Swedish flow, deep tissue pressure, trigger-point work, assisted stretching, myofascial release, and hot towels as your body asks for them.
That's the honest answer to "what is a signature massage?" It isn't a brand name for a Swedish massage. It's the freedom for a licensed therapist to change technique mid-session — softening when your nervous system needs quiet, going deeper when a shoulder finally starts to release — instead of following a script to the clock.
Most guests book Signature because they're not sure which modality they need. You don't have to know. Your therapist does the choosing, checks in as they go, and the session can look completely different the next time you come in.
It's available in 60, 90, and 120 minutes. Sixty minutes covers full-body with one focus area; ninety is the most-booked length near Zion because it leaves room for both focused work and a real unwind; one-twenty is closer to a personal retreat.
Best for
- First-time guests who don't know which massage to choose

What guests often notice

- Easier movement the next morning after hiking or long desk days
- A therapist who adjusts before you have to ask
Individual experiences vary. Not a substitute for medical care.
Who should wait or check with us first
Signature Massage is safe for most guests, but a few situations call for a conversation — with us, or with your provider — before you book:
- Fever, active infection, or contagious illness — please reschedule; we waive change fees when you're sick.
- New, undiagnosed pain, numbness, or swelling — see a physician first so we know what we're working around.
- Recent surgery or injury still under a doctor's care, unless you have medical clearance.
- Blood clots, DVT history, or blood-thinning medication — tell us before booking so we can adapt or decline safely.
If you're unsure whether massage is right for you today, call us before you book — our therapists would rather help you choose than have you sit through a session that isn't a fit.
What happens during the session
- Consultation
- Two or three minutes at the start: what hurts, what you want out of the hour, how much pressure feels right. This is what makes the session 'signature'.
- Technique blend
- Your therapist draws from Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, stretching, myofascial, and hot towels — chosen live, not booked in advance.
- Pressure
- Anywhere from feather-light to firm, and it can change area by area. Say the word and it changes immediately.
- Draping
- You're always covered. Only the area being worked is uncovered.
- Length
- 60 minutes for full-body plus one focus area, 90 for full-body plus real depth, 120 for an unhurried reset.
Before & after your session
Small choices before and after your session make the work land deeper — here's what our therapists recommend.
Before you arrive
- Hydrate
- Drink a full glass of water in the hour before your session. Well-hydrated tissue responds more quickly and holds the work longer.
- Eat lightly
- Avoid a heavy meal in the two hours beforehand. A small snack is perfect.
- Arrive a few minutes early
- Give yourself 5–10 minutes to settle. We'll offer tea and walk you through anything new.
- Come as you are
- No pre-session shower required — but we have a private guest bathroom if you'd like to freshen up after a hike.
After your session
- Sip water through the day
- Bodywork gently mobilises tissue. Steady hydration helps you feel your best the next morning.
- Move gently, not intensely
- A slow walk, a soak, or a stretch is beautiful. Save the hard workout for the day after.
- Notice, don't chase
- Most guests feel the deepest calm 6–12 hours later. Let the session keep unfolding.
- Rebook while it's fresh
- Guests who book their next session before leaving the studio maintain the benefit longest.
Deepen the session
Layer any of these into your session — chosen when you book.
Aromatherapy
Choose a therapeutic-grade blend — calming, grounding, or clarifying — layered gently through the session.
Hot stone accents
Warm basalt stones eased along the back and shoulders to soften tension before your therapist works deeper.
Scalp & neck focus
Extra time layered into the scalp, neck, and jaw — a favourite for screen-tension and headache-prone guests.
Add a mini-facial
A shortened Eminence Organic facial layered onto your massage — glow-giving and deeply calming.
