What this experience feels like
Ashiatsu uses overhead bars for balance while the therapist glides smooth, weighted strokes along the body. The pressure is heavier than traditional deep tissue but feels broad rather than pinpointed.
Most guests describe it as the most releasing pressure they've ever experienced — the kind that finally gets where it needs to go.
Best for
- Lovers of deep, full-body pressure
- Athletes and hikers with long-held tightness
- Guests who find traditional deep tissue too pointed
Who should wait or check with us first
Ashiatsu Massage is safe for most guests, but a few situations call for a conversation — with us, or with your provider — before you book:
- Osteoporosis, recent fractures, or fragile skin — firm pressure isn't appropriate; a relaxation or Signature session is.
- Blood thinners or bruising disorders — deep work can cause bruising; let us know and we'll lighten the plan.
- Acute inflammation, a flaring injury, or the first 72 hours after a strain.
- Fever, infection, or feeling generally unwell.
If you're unsure whether massage is right for you today, call us before you book — our therapists would rather help you choose than have you sit through a session that isn't a fit.
What happens during the session
- Setup
- You'll lie face-down while the therapist uses the overhead bars for balance and control.
- Pressure
- Broad, even, and very releasing. Communicated and adjusted throughout.
- Sensation
- Heavy and grounding, like ocean waves passing through.
- Pacing
- Slow and continuous — designed for a deep, restorative finish.
Before & after your session
Small choices before and after your session make the work land deeper — here's what our therapists recommend.
Before you arrive
- Hydrate
- Drink a full glass of water in the hour before your session. Well-hydrated tissue responds more quickly and holds the work longer.
- Eat lightly
- Avoid a heavy meal in the two hours beforehand. A small snack is perfect.
- Arrive a few minutes early
- Give yourself 5–10 minutes to settle. We'll offer tea and walk you through anything new.
- Come as you are
- No pre-session shower required — but we have a private guest bathroom if you'd like to freshen up after a hike.
After your session
- Sip water through the day
- Bodywork gently mobilises tissue. Steady hydration helps you feel your best the next morning.
- Move gently, not intensely
- A slow walk, a soak, or a stretch is beautiful. Save the hard workout for the day after.
- Notice, don't chase
- Most guests feel the deepest calm 6–12 hours later. Let the session keep unfolding.
- Rebook while it's fresh
- Guests who book their next session before leaving the studio maintain the benefit longest.
Deepen the session
Layer any of these into your session — chosen when you book.
CBD topical
Popular after hikes
A clean, THC-free topical worked into the areas holding the most tension. Beautiful for post-hike or post-training recovery.
Hot stone accents
Warm basalt stones eased along the back and shoulders to soften tension before your therapist works deeper.
Foot recovery
Traveler favourite
Focused work through the arches, calves, and Achilles — ideal after The Narrows or Angels Landing.
Zion Canyon Hot Springs soak
Most-booked pairing
Add admission to the historic mineral hot springs in Hurricane — soak before or after and turn your session into a slow half-day.

Angels Landing, The Narrows, and long days on Gooseberry Mesa leave the same signature: locked calves, tight hip flexors, and shoulders wrecked by a daypack. Our therapists see it daily and work through it in a way that keeps you hiking the next morning instead of resting the day out.
