Introduction
About After Your Hike
Most Zion hikes finish early. You're back at the shuttle by early afternoon with tired legs, six hours of daylight, and no plan.
The stretch of SR-9 west of the park — Springdale to Rockville to Virgin to La Verkin and Hurricane — is where that afternoon gets good.
Benefits
What it supports
- Soak at Zion Canyon Hot Springs in La Verkin — warm mineral water and the best possible answer to descent-sore quads.
- Book bodywork in La Verkin, 25 minutes west of Springdale. Free parking, no shuttle timing, and rooms built for quiet.
- Drive the Kolob Terrace Road out of Virgin for high-country air and almost no crowds — low effort, big payoff.
- Grab an unhurried early dinner in Hurricane or La Verkin, where you won't wait an hour for a table like you would in Springdale.
- Sand Hollow or Quail Creek for flat-water swimming if you have energy left and want warm water without a trail.
- Sit still in Springdale with a view of the Watchman. Legitimately a plan.

Sequence that works: off the trail by 2 → soak at 3 → massage at 4:30 → dinner at 6:30.
Book the massage before your hike. Afternoon slots go first in peak season.
If you're hiking again tomorrow, keep the afternoon low-impact — soak, bodywork, and food beat a second hike.
Driving out the same day? A session in La Verkin before you get on I-15 makes the drive dramatically better.
